The Team

#MENApit was founded by Ptissem (🇲🇦), Yalda (🇮🇷), and Krystal (🇱🇧) when they realized no pitch event existed to uplift MENA creatives.Ptissem is a British-Moroccan writer, mother and coach. Her writing speaks on issues surrounding women and romantic relationships and has appeared in The Muslim Vibe and Amaliah. Her six-part memoir series The Domestic Abuse Diaries published by Dina Tokio, inspired her current novel, which went on to win the TLC Pen Factor Prize. Ptissem worked in Sports TV for over a decade. She speaks Spanish and broken Moroccan-Arabic, and would spend most of her time travelling if her bank account allowed it.Yalda is a truth-chaser drawn to the human psyche. Yalda's work is rooted in humor, inspired by the magic of the ordinary turned extraordinary. Her personal mandate: to write sharp-tongued, Iranian sleuths that she longed to read about in her younger years. Yalda's worked in corporate accounting for the past two decades, and holds a BBA.Krystal is a fantasy writer and professor of English. She is a citizen of the world—which is a fancy way of saying that she is a resident of whichever country has currently offered her a job. Hopping between America, Canada, and Lebanon over the last twenty years, she currently resides on the East Coast, teaching university students how to write essays, analyze literature, and write creatively.
